In addition, the USB interfaces at the back of the switch need to be connected to the computers' USB ports. The keyboard and the mouse are plugged into the USB ports at the sides of the switch. For the macbook pro, I use an AmazonBasic miniDP to HDMI cable. The monitor has no HDMI interface, and I bought an AmazonBasic HDMI to DVI cable for the connection.

My linux PC has an NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti with HDMI interface, so I can directly plug it into the switch.

UGreen's HDMI KVM is one of the cheapest on Amazon, and it works well for my need. I need to share a keyboard, a mouse, and a monitor between a linux PC and a macbook pro. I will also probably stop recommending UGreen cables too - their quality standards are obviously slipping with their increased popularity as a brand. Pity because switch works well other than that. Have swapped all cables, tried, cables without switch and experienced no problems. If I noticed it missing!! I watch the keyboard nmot the screen, like most people (not touch typing.) They are "lost".And then, without me doing anything, after a few seconds the screen USUALLY come back and I have to retype the text.

I had a fair few problems, nothing that major but irritating none the lessĬurrently, while typing, the device intermittently and randomly decides to lock up for a few seconds and registers none of the keystrokes. I am holding back the 5th star - I have bought a device to share one PC video out onto two large screens - let me see if that works too using this device. This product is the "dogs" if like me you have more than one computers (home and work laptops for me) and want to use a large screen without the hassle of forever swapping cables between machines, not just for the monitor but also the mouse (wireless) and keyboard (illuminated). The problem turned out to be my Lenovo machine doing something "odd" with the USB ports now and then. I have left my 2 star review (below) but this is my updated 5 star review:Īfter many months of experiment and new and "better" cables, I have returned to those supplied.
